April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born July 4th, 1995. When she was in the 7th grade she began taking piano and guitar lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm for songwriting. April's very first song was titled Different, which she wrote aged 12. It was a long time at 14 writing songs, and practicing her music. Over the next few months she began taking notes along with her father and her father to LA as well as NY. The month also saw her include additional topics that were related to of her peers who are dealing with things like peer pressure disabilities and even teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take" my Hand. Lockhart is a partner at popular clean beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer, with an increasing following of her own. Lockhart was born without a left hand, and it's part of who she's become, but this isn't the whole truth. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not hide her disability but doesn't focus solely on her disability. What message does it convey? We are all more than simply our physical body. Our identities are complicated and we contain many different elements. We don't want to allow that to make me feel like I'm to be a disability influencer in the sense that I only talk about since there are numerous other aspects of me Lockhart speaks via video from her house in Nashville. My day-today life is not dependent on it. I go about my regular, everyday life and find my own solutions to issues. Since it's a part of me personally and something worth talking about. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime but Lockhart is an absolute inspiration in this regard. Lockhart admits to having been through times when she was unsure about sporting certain clothes that exposed her arms. Today, she wears what she's comfortable in and post images of her outfits to the internet with a sense of pride. Self-love, she explains, is a process. "I do not think that you will ever be there," she said. This applies to everyone regardless of their level of insecurity. I think that having people around you who really understand you and can see your heart is really important because they'll also be the people whom you can count on to remind you about what you worried about?
